Emergency Dentist in Buckhead

Urgent Dental Care from a Full-Service Atlanta Practice

Premier Dental Care of Buckhead has been treating Atlanta patients for over 45 years. When a dental emergency strikes, that depth of experience matters. Dr. Lewis L. Brown, Dr. Trent M. Collett, and Dr. Amara Collett lead a practice built to handle urgent cases without sending you somewhere else because oral surgery, sedation, and an on-site dental laboratory are all under one roof.

Don’t wait through the pain. Call (404) 491-7711 as soon as possible and we can help you figure out your next step.

Recognizing a Dental Emergency

Not every dental problem looks like a crisis from the outside. A severe toothache can signal nerve damage, a deep cavity, or an underlying infection rather than something minor. A dental abscess, a pocket of infection at the root of a tooth or between the gum and tooth, needs prompt drainage and treatment to help keep it from spreading to surrounding tissue. When something feels wrong, it usually is.

Common situations that warrant urgent attention:

  • Knocked-out tooth: time-sensitive; the sooner you’re seen, the better the chance of saving it
  • Broken or cracked tooth: can expose the nerve and worsen quickly without care
  • Severe toothache: persistent or worsening pain is a signal, not something to wait out
  • Lost filling or crown: leaves the tooth unprotected and vulnerable to further damage
  • Swelling or signs of infection: facial swelling, fever, or a bad taste can indicate a spreading oral infection

Emergency Dental Treatment at Our Buckhead Office

Broken and missing teeth are cases we treat regularly in-office. Dr. Collett’s advanced surgical training means tooth extractions, wisdom tooth removal, and implant placement can all be performed here rather than requiring a separate dental visit. For patients facing a complex or painful procedure, IV sedation is available so care can be delivered more comfortably in a single appointment.

Diagnosis moves quickly because we use digital and 3D imaging to assess what’s happening beneath the surface before treatment begins. Our on-site dental laboratory means crown fabrication happens within the practice rather than waiting on an outside lab. From diagnosis through repair, many trauma and breakage cases stay entirely under our roof.

What to Do Before You Arrive

How you handle a dental injury in the first few minutes can affect the outcome. These steps apply to the most common situations:

Knocked-Out Tooth
Rinse the tooth gently with water without touching the root. If possible, reinsert it into the socket and bite down softly to hold it in place. If that’s not comfortable, store it in milk or between your cheek and gum. Treatment within 30 to 60 minutes can improve the chance of saving the tooth.

Chipped or Cracked Tooth
Rinse your mouth with warm water and save any fragments you can find. Avoid chewing on that side until the tooth has been evaluated. A crack that seems minor can extend further under the surface than it appears.

Lost Filling or Crown
Keep the area clean and call us. Temporary dental cement from a pharmacy can protect the tooth briefly, but it’s not a substitute for proper care.

When to Go to the Emergency Room Instead

Some situations require immediate medical care rather than a dental office visit. Uncontrolled bleeding, a broken or dislocated jaw, or any difficulty breathing or swallowing are medical emergencies that a dental office isn’t equipped to treat. Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in Buckhead provides 24-hour emergency services for these situations. Go there first, then follow up with us once you’re stabilized.

Dental pain, a damaged or lost tooth, swelling from a suspected infection, and most oral injuries are best handled by a dentist. If you’re unsure which situation applies to you, call us and we can help you decide.

Start with a Free Consultation

Cost shouldn’t stop you from getting care when you need it. We offer free consultations so you can come in, understand what’s happening, and make an informed decision without any financial commitment just to be seen. We also accept CareCredit financing for patients who need to spread treatment costs over time.

Call (404) 491-7711 to reach Premier Dental Care of Buckhead and tell us what’s going on. We can help you get the right care as quickly as possible.
